Reach Impex Seeks to Register McDonald’s Trademark in Uzbekistan

Reach Impex Applies to Register McDonald’s Trademark in Uzbekistan

According to recent reports, Reach Impex has submitted an application to the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan to register the McDonald’s trademark in the country. This information was shared by Spot, citing data from the portal of electronic government services of intellectual property.

The application was filed by Reach Impex on March 11 under the numbers 202401749 and 202401748. Both applications are currently “in the process of official examination.”

When asked about their plans to open a branch of the McDonald’s network in Uzbekistan, a representative from Reach Impex declined to comment, stating, “I can’t say anything yet.”

The company, which was registered on April 19, 2022, with an authorized capital of 211.1 million soums, is involved in wholesale non-specialized trade. The founders of Reach Impex are Bakhodir Burkhanovich Usmanov (60%) and Abror Akhralovich Abdujabbarov (40%), who also serves as the company’s head.

It is worth noting that Bakhodir Usmanov shares the same full name as the brother of Alisher Usmanov, a Russian billionaire of Uzbek origin.

In addition to applying for the McDonald’s trademark, Reach Impex has previously registered the trademark of the Russian fast-food chain Kroshka-Kartoshka in Uzbekistan.

As the application for the McDonald’s trademark undergoes official examination, the future of the popular fast-food chain’s presence in Uzbekistan remains uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
