Reduced Fine of 10,000 Soms for Electronic Cigarette Use

The Committee on Social Policy of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan has taken a significant step in the fight against the use of electronic cigarettes in the country. In a recent decision, the committee approved a bill that prohibits the import, sale, and use of electronic cigarettes.

According to the approved bill, individuals found violating these bans will be subject to fines and even imprisonment. Initially, the proposed fine for the use of electronic cigarettes was set at 400,000 calculated rates, equivalent to 40,000 soms. However, after discussions, it was decided to reduce the fine to 10,000 soms.

Legal entities caught using vape devices will face fines of 60,000 soms, while individuals and legal entities involved in the sale of e-cigarettes will face fines of 50,000 soms and 65,000 soms, respectively.

Importing vape devices into Kyrgyzstan will also be met with strict consequences, including fines ranging from 150,000 to 200,000 soms or imprisonment for one to two years.

This decision by the Parliament reflects the government’s commitment to promoting public health and discouraging the use of electronic cigarettes among the population. It is a significant step towards creating a healthier and smoke-free environment in Kyrgyzstan.
