Reduced Sugar Consumption Norms in Schools and Kindergartens in Kyrgyzstan

The Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan is taking steps to address excessive sugar consumption among children, as reported by the deputy of Parliament, Dastan Bekeshev. The daily sugar intake limit in schools and kindergartens has been lowered from 50 to 30 grams, with school canteens now offering a sugar-free dried fruit drink instead of tea.
To further promote healthy eating habits, a methodological guide called “Young Gardener” has been developed to educate schoolchildren and their parents on nutrition. Additionally, a program called “Fundamentals of a Healthy Lifestyle” has been implemented in primary schools nationwide, along with an online course to train cooks in educational institutions.
Dastan Bekeshev has also expressed his intention to launch a large-scale anti-sugar campaign, particularly focusing on educational organizations. These initiatives aim to reduce the consumption of sugar among children and promote a healthier lifestyle among the youth in Kyrgyzstan.
