Republic-wide Environmental Vehicle Control Program

The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, in collaboration with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has kicked off the first stage of the “Clean air” month across the republic. The aim of this initiative is to ensure the implementation of the laws “On atmospheric air protection” and “On environmental control”.

The first stage of the “Clean air” month will run from April 10 to May 10, followed by the second stage from August 10 to September 10 (in the city of Tashkent, the second stage will extend until October 10).

As part of the event, road patrol posts in all regions of the country and on the central streets of districts and cities will be using special equipment to check the amount of harmful gases emitted into the atmosphere by vehicles running on gasoline, diesel fuel, natural compressed, and liquefied gas. Drivers of vehicles found to be environmentally faulty will be prohibited from operating the vehicle until the fault is corrected.

The “Clean air” month is a continuous effort to prevent excessive harmful emissions from technical equipment into the atmosphere. In 2023 alone, 318,556 vehicles underwent environmental control, resulting in the prevention of 209,232 tons of pollutants from being emitted into the atmosphere.

By upholding such measures, Uzbekistan is taking proactive steps to safeguard the environment and promote cleaner air for its citizens.
