Rescue operation saves 60 irregular immigrants off Izmir coast

The Turkish Coast Guard recently rescued a total of 60 irregular immigrants, including 22 children, off the coast of Dikili. The operation was launched after receiving information about irregular immigrants stranded in life rafts in Turkish territorial waters.

According to a statement released by the Coast Guard Command, a team was immediately dispatched to the area where they found 41 immigrants in two life rafts that had been pushed into Turkish waters by Greek elements. The team successfully brought the immigrants, who were in distress, ashore.

In a separate incident, Coast Guard teams also rescued 19 immigrants, including 7 children, from a rubber boat that was drifting due to engine failure. The immigrants were stranded at sea and had called for help before the Coast Guard arrived to assist them.

After being rescued, all irregular immigrants were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. The authorities are working to ensure the safety and well-being of all immigrants who have been rescued in these operations.

The Turkish Coast Guard continues to monitor the seas and respond to distress calls in order to prevent further incidents involving irregular immigrants in the region.
