
Residents of Almaty and Astana to Celebrate Republic Day with Theater Premieres, Festive Concerts, and Sports Events

Astana, the capital city of Kazakhstan, is gearing up to celebrate Republic Day on October 25th. According to reports from Kazinform, the city has planned more than 200 cultural, educational, sports, and social events to mark this important occasion.
The festivities will include a wide range of activities, such as festive concerts, car rallies, exhibitions, excursions for children to iconic sites, round tables, and tournaments showcasing national sports. The program aims to cater to the diverse interests of the city’s residents and visitors.
In addition to these events, Astana has also witnessed the opening of the 123rd theater season at the Gorky Russian Drama Theater. The theater troupe has prepared several premieres, including “Aliya,” a play dedicated to the heroic Kazakh sniper, Aliya Moldagulova. Other performances include Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard” and Edmond Rostand’s “Cyrano de Bergerac.”
Furthermore, the State Academic Philharmonic and the Naz State Dance Theater will present a concert program on October 24th, while the renowned Ulytau ethno-rock band will perform at the Barys Arena Ice Palace on the same day.
The highlight of the celebrations will be the Otan Kymbat (Beloved Motherland) concert, which will take place at the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation on October 25th. Tickets for this special event can be purchased through the Ticketon website.
Meanwhile, Almaty, another city in Kazakhstan, is also preparing to commemorate Republic Day. The city will host a series of events such as concerts, exhibitions, agricultural fairs, and sports festivals. The Medeu ice skating rink will organize a flag-raising ceremony and a mass performance of the national anthem, attended by various public figures and representatives of the city’s assembly.
In addition, Kok-Tobe Park will hold a festive concert, and the Kazakh State Circus will showcase the talents of the renowned artist and magician, Karim Muturganov. Visitors can expect a mesmerizing show featuring acrobats, trapeze artists, jugglers, tightrope walkers, illusionists, and clowns.
The day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display at Astana Square in Almaty at 8 p.m., providing a breathtaking end to the celebrations.
Leading up to Republic Day, a unique event took place in Almaty. Kazakh kobyz player Lyayla Tazhibayeva performed Ykylas Dukenuly’s “Zhez kiik” (Copper Deer) while parachuting on October 15th. This extraordinary performance was supported by Timofey Merkulov, a reserve colonel and Vice President of the Kazakhstan Aviation Sports Federation.
Meanwhile, residents of Astana have been participating in a challenge to decorate their windows and balconies with national flags to commemorate Republic Day. Young volunteers have spearheaded this initiative, aiming to popularize the Kazakh state symbol and spread positive emotions among the city’s residents.
Astana resident Tamara Suvorina expressed her appreciation for the initiative, stating that it serves as a gentle reminder of the importance of home and creates a sense of unity among the community.
