Response to Israeli PM’s Alleged Flight Permit from Ankara – CNN Türk

No Permission Granted for Netanyahu’s Use of Turkish Airspace
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to visit Azerbaijan on May 7. However, prior to this trip, reports emerged indicating that he had sought permission to use Turkish airspace for his journey to Baku. In response to these claims, Öncü Keçeli, spokesperson for the Turkish Foreign Ministry, firmly rejected the idea, stating, "The information that the Israeli Prime Minister’s plane has been granted upper flight permission is absolutely not correct. No such request has been made to us."
The Communication Presidency’s Disinformation Center also issued a statement refuting the allegations, emphasizing that there are no plans for Turkey to open its airspace for Netanyahu’s flight. They reiterated that the closure of Turkish airspace for Israeli planes is a response to what they termed "genocide policies against Gaza" by the Israeli government. The Turkish authorities reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people in this context.
This escalating diplomatic tension showcases the strained relations between Turkey and Israel, particularly amid ongoing conflicts in the region. As the situation develops, both nations continue to navigate their intricate geopolitical landscape.
