Restoration Planned for Hazrati Imam Complex in Tashkent

The Scientific and Expert Council Approves Restoration Projects for Historical Monuments

The Scientific and Expert Council under the Cultural Heritage Agency has given its approval for the restoration and reconstruction projects of several historical sites within the Hazrati Imam Complex. The extraordinary meeting, which took place on April 9, reviewed the projects for the Abu Bakr Qaffal Shashi Mausoleum, Barakhan and Muyi Muborak madrasahs, and the Namozgoh and Tilla Shaykh mosques located on Zarkaynar Street.

During the meeting, council members unanimously approved the restoration projects, emphasizing that the approval was conditional on ensuring that no harm is caused to the monuments. It was specified that special fired Muslim bricks measuring 250x250x50 mm, baked in kilns, would be used for the foundation paving under the walls.

The responsibility for the implementation and oversight of these projects has been assigned to the Tashkent city department of the Cultural Heritage Agency and the state institution, the “Scientific Research Institute for Cultural Heritage.”

In addition to the approval of the projects within the Hazrati Imam Complex, the Council also gave the green light for the renovation of the Qiziltepa Historical Museum in the Navoi region and the construction of a mausoleum and auxiliary buildings at the Manak Ota pilgrimage site in the Khojaobod district of the Andijan region.

The decisions made by the Scientific and Expert Council highlight the importance of preserving Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage while ensuring that restoration and reconstruction efforts are carried out with the utmost care and respect for the historical monuments.
