Retired Major General Ali Fikret Atun Laid to Rest with Military Honors

Retired Major General Ali Fikret Atun, a hero of the Erenköy Resistance, was laid to rest with military honors in Ankara at the age of 90. The funeral prayer, attended by family members, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and military and civilian officials, took place at Bilkent Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque after the noon prayer.

Following the ceremony, Atun’s body was escorted to Karşıyaka Cemetery for burial, accompanied by a military band. Soil from Cyprus was placed in his grave as a tribute to his connection to his homeland.
