Retired Major General Ali Fikret Atun Laid to Rest with Military Honors
Retired Major General Ali Fikret Atun, a hero of the Erenköy Resistance, was laid to rest with military honors in Ankara at the age of 90. The funeral prayer, attended by family members, Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, and military and civilian officials, took place at Bilkent Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque after the noon prayer.
The President of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş, led the funeral prayer, honoring Atun as a dedicated soldier and general who devoted his life to the security and protection of his nation.
Following the ceremony, Atun’s body was escorted to Karşıyaka Cemetery for burial, accompanied by a military band. Soil from Cyprus was placed in his grave as a tribute to his connection to his homeland.
The nation mourns the loss of Major General Ali Fikret Atun, a respected figure in the military community and a symbol of dedication and service to his country. May he rest in peace.
