Millions of retirees to receive increased bonuses
A proposal to increase retirement bonuses by 3,000 TL is set to be submitted to Parliament on Monday, following orders from President Erdoğan. The Minister of Treasury and Finance, along with the Minister of Labor and Social Security, under the chairmanship of Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz, met with the AK Party’s economic staff to discuss the potential increase.
The retirement bonus, given twice a year during Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, requires a legal adjustment for any increase. During the meeting, three alternative figures for the bonus increase were discussed, with a focus on a potential increase to 4,000 TL.
While ensuring budget balances are maintained, it is essential that any increase is a figure that will satisfy retirees. Alternatives will also be presented to President Erdoğan, who will provide further clarification on the final figure.
The proposed regulation will be included in a bill that the AK Party plans to submit to the Presidency of the Assembly on Monday. The Pension bonus increase will then be reviewed by the Plan and Budget Commission, with the goal to pass it in the General Assembly in time for bonuses with the increase to be paid before Ramadan.
