Reviving Dormant Tools: “Bayrak’ta/Peace” Resurrects Unused Assets from BRTK Archives and Warehouses

BRTK Launches “Bayrak’ta/Peace” Project on the Anniversary of Happy Peace Operation and Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation
To commemorate the 49th anniversary of the 20 July Happy Peace Operation and the 60th anniversary of the Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation (BRTK), a new project called “Bayrak’ta/Peace” has been initiated.
The project, themed “Peace in the Flag/Peace,” aims to breathe new life into various communication tools and equipment that have been lying idle in the archives and warehouses of the institution. These items will be transformed artistically through the logic of recycling. Workshops have already commenced, and artists, academics, and students from universities across the country will contribute their expertise.
The exhibition showcasing the artworks created throughout the month-long project will have its grand opening on 19 July at the Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation as part of the Happy Peace Operation celebrations. Ayhatun Ateşin, the curator of the “Bayrak’ta/Peace” project, expressed enthusiasm about blending the recycling and upcycling studies of academics and artists, asserting that remarkable works will be accomplished. Ateşin added that visual communication students will also participate in the workshops, providing them with valuable learning experiences.
Ateşin emphasized that “Peace in the Flag” translates into peace within society. She underlined the significance of preserving the impact of the project on materials that have been idle for years and currently lie unused. Ateşin believes that by allowing artists and academics to process these materials, they serve as a reflection of society.
Meryem Özkurt, the Director of Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation, highlighted the relevance of Atatürk’s words, “Peace at Home, Peace in the World.” She noted that the institution has always mirrored society’s values by prioritizing recycling and productivity. Özkurt acknowledged the rapid technological advancements and emphasized that BRTK acts as a bridge between the past and the future by adopting innovative tools and equipment to suit contemporary conditions.
The “Bayrak’ta/Peace” project symbolizes both the historical significance of the Happy Peace Operation and the long-standing contributions of Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation. Through this artistic endeavor, the institution aims to promote peace and sustainability, aligning with the values of the nation and bringing together various stakeholders to create a better future.
