Revolutionizing Online Shopping with Improved Return Process

A new era is beginning in the world of online shopping! Changes are being made to the return process of products to address the issues that have arisen with return transactions at cargo branches. Starting from January 1, a new regulation will be put into effect, shifting the responsibility of return costs to the consumers.

Under the ‘Regulation on Amendments to the Distance Contracts Regulation’ by the Ministry of Commerce, consumers will have the right to withdraw from their purchase within 14 days of the delivery date. However, they will be required to cover the cost of returning the product, unless it is defective. In the case of a defective product, the consumer will not be held responsible for the return costs. Furthermore, upon request, the return cost can be offset against the cost of the goods or services to be returned.

Neşet Gündüz, the Consumers Union Antalya Branch President, commented on the change, saying, “After the new year, the consumer will pay the shipping fee unless the product is defective. In case of not receiving the cargo or giving up on shopping, the company can file a lawsuit to collect the shipping fee. This practice plays into the hands of fraudsters. Bad people who have previously defrauded consumers “Messages sent by malicious people under the name of the cargo company may be encountered more frequently. Consumers should be careful of fraudulent messages sent by malicious people.”

These changes aim to create a more transparent and fair online shopping experience for consumers, while also aiming to prevent fraudulent activities. As the world of e-commerce continues to evolve, it is important for regulations to adapt to protect the rights of both consumers and businesses.
