Riding Across Mongolia for Charity: The Longest Journey on Horseback
Christina Keim, a lifelong horsewoman, has taken on her toughest equine challenge yet – the Gobi Gallop. The ride is the world’s longest charity horseback adventure, covering 500 miles in 10 days across Mongolia. Keim, 46, began the ride on 2 June and is raising money for the Veloo Foundation, which supports disadvantaged children in the country’s capital, Ulaanbaatar. The route crosses rivers, goes over mountains and along the Mongolian steppe. Keim is alternating between two Mongolian horses and hopes to raise USD 10,000 for the nonprofit. She said she was attracted to the “adventure” of the ride as it was “not something anyone I know has ever done or experienced. For me, that just sounds like a thrill”.
