Ridley Scott Chooses Next Film After ‘Napoleon’ and ‘Gladiator 2’

86-Year-Old Director Ridley Scott to Helm New Action Thriller

Ridley Scott, the acclaimed 86-year-old director, is showing no signs of slowing down as he takes on a new project. According to recent reports, Scott will be directing a new action thriller for 20th Century Studios and his Scott Free production company, based on Kevin McMullin’s short story “BOMB.”

The project is said to have garnered a lot of attention, with 20th Century Studios ultimately winning the bid over nine other competitors, including major players such as Apple, Netflix, Sony, and Warner Bros. As part of the deal, McMullin will be responsible for writing the script, with Scott and Michael Pruss taking on producing duties.

The story itself is described as a hybrid of “Dog Day Afternoon” and “Speed,” revolving around a hostage negotiator named Frankie Ippolito who finds himself called into action on the eve of his wedding in London. The situation unfolds at a construction site in Piccadilly Circus, where a man has uncovered an unexploded bomb from World War II and sets off a series of events that draw Frankie into an overnight battle to stop the bomber.

This new project comes on the heels of Scott’s most recent film, “Napoleon,” and amidst the filming of “Gladiator 2,” which is scheduled for release next year. Despite his age, Scott continues to be an active force in the film industry, proving that age is no obstacle when it comes to pursuing one’s passion and creativity.
