Rise in Voter Turnout in Capital City – Latest News from Turkey

The Supreme Electoral Council (YSK) has been busy preparing for the upcoming election, with the election calendar in full swing.

On March 3, the lists of mayoral candidates were finalized after political parties participating in the election were determined. This also led to the determination of the number of voters eligible to vote on March 31.

According to the Ankara Provincial Election Board, the capital city of Ankara has a total of 4,304,871 registered voters. This marks an increase of 22,153 voters compared to the previous year, when the number of voters was 4,282,718 during the Presidential and 28th Term Parliamentary General Elections held on May 14.

On March 31, voters in Ankara will cast their votes to elect the metropolitan mayor, district mayor, municipal council members, and neighborhood headmen. There are a total of 24 candidates vying for the position of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, with 19 candidates representing political parties and 5 running as independent candidates.

As the election date approaches, all eyes will be on Ankara to see who will emerge victorious and lead the capital city in the coming years.
