Rising Meat Prices Ahead of Ramadan
The Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey has expressed concerns regarding the recent increase in meat prices ahead of the month of Ramadan. According to their statements, the price of beef cubes, which were being sold for 415 liras in the markets, has risen by 20 percent, reaching 497 liras before Ramadan. Similarly, the price of lamb cubes, previously priced at 458 liras, has spiked by 32 percent to 606 liras.
Chairman Şemsi Bayraktar has highlighted the issue of opportunists taking advantage of the situation and called for increased inspections to prevent further price hikes. He emphasized the importance of monitoring the market and ensuring that consumers are not exploited during this time of increased demand.
As Ramadan approaches, many families traditionally consume more meat as part of their meals during the month of fasting. The significant price increase in meat products could put a strain on households already facing economic challenges.
Therefore, the Union of Chambers of Agriculture of Turkey is urging authorities to take action and intervene to stabilize meat prices and prevent any further exploitation of consumers.
