RockBalaton Festival Returns to Fonyód: Four Days of Rock Music on Lake Balaton
For four days between August 8 and 11, Fonyód on the southern shore of Lake Balaton will transform into the summer capital of rock music as the RockBalaton Festival makes its return. This annual event continues to attract fans of the genre year after year, offering a lineup of renowned Hungarian rock musicians and promising up-and-coming bands.
From late afternoon until late evening, attendees can enjoy performances from some of the biggest stars of the Hungarian rock music scene. Among the lineup is Joe Rudan, former member of Hell Machine, P. Mobil, and Mobile Mania, who will showcase the best songs of his illustrious career with his own band.
The opening day will feature the energetic punk group Alvin and the Chipmunks, while Depression, Heart of Steel, Ossian, National Voice, and Aurora will grace the stage on subsequent days. Carpathia, known as the number one representative of national rock, will also make an appearance on the third day of the festival.
The concluding day of RockBalaton will offer performances by Omen, Moby Dick, Szekeres and Barbaro, The King is Dead, and the iconic Hungarian heavy metal band, Hell Machine. Additionally, P. Mobil’s 50+ tour will make a stop at the festival, showcasing rock legends to the audience.
Apart from established rock acts, the festival will also provide a platform for emerging talents, reflecting its commitment to supporting the music community. Families are encouraged to attend, with children under 14 granted free entry under parental supervision.
RockBalaton has become more than just a music festival, as many attendees arrive days in advance to turn it into a week-long holiday. The event’s main stage is designed to minimize its ecological footprint, with initiatives like reusable cups introduced to promote sustainability.
With an anticipated surge in attendance, local accommodations are quickly filling up, prompting festival-goers to seek lodging in surrounding villages. RockBalaton’s reputation as a top festival was underscored by its recognition as the Festival of the Year in 2019.
