RTÜK Takes Action Against YouTube Channel Over Insulting Interview
RTÜK President Ebubekir Sahin has announced that a criminal complaint will be filed against Ebru Uzun Oruç, the manager of the popular YouTube channel "Street Cat." This decision follows a recent street interview that reportedly featured heavy insults and disrespectful language directed at a citizen. Sahin emphasized that such behavior violates the principles of professional journalism and free expression, marking a clear infringement of individual rights.
In a statement made on the social media platform X, Sahin expressed concern over how the interview disrespected the dignity and personal rights of citizens. He asserted that Oruç’s actions were unacceptable, stating, "Under the guise of education and cultural commentary, insulting and degrading our citizens is a serious violation of their rights. Legal proceedings will be initiated, and a criminal complaint will be submitted to the public prosecutor’s office."
Sahin also highlighted that RTÜK will enhance its scrutiny over street interviews to prevent any similar occurrences in the future. He committed to taking necessary measures to protect the honor and personal rights of every citizen, ensuring that media adheres to ethical principles and legal standards.
