Russia to Triple Spending on Promoting Russian Language Abroad in 2025
In a recent development, Russia has announced its plans to triple spending on promoting the Russian language abroad in the year 2025. According to the explanatory note to the draft law “On the federal budget for 2025 and the planning period of 2026 and 2027,” 1.7 billion rubles have been allocated for this purpose, which is a significant increase of 1.197 billion rubles compared to the previous year.
The majority of the allocated funds will be directed towards supporting the Russkiy Mir Foundation, organizing cultural and educational events, and developing the Okno v Rossiyu multimedia portal. These initiatives are aimed at spreading awareness and increasing the usage of the Russian language globally.
Looking ahead, Russia has outlined its plans to further increase funding for projects promoting the Russian language abroad, with 1.8 billion rubles earmarked for 2026 and 2 billion rubles for 2027.
