Russia receives delivery of Su-34M fighter bombers
Rostec, a Russian technology company, has announced the delivery of a batch of Su-34M fighter bombers to the Russian Aerospace Forces. These aircraft were produced at the Novosibirsk Aviation Factory in the Siberian region of Russia. This marks the second batch of Su-34s delivered this year.
The newly delivered Su-34Ms are equipped with a new and more powerful engine, specifically the Saturn AL-41F1S model. This engine is currently used on the Sukhoi Su-35S and Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jets, which provides improved performance compared to the previous engines used on Su-34 fighter bombers.
Yuri Slyusar, the General Manager of United Aircraft Corporation, expressed satisfaction with the successful delivery of high-impact aviation systems to the Russian Ministry of Defense. He emphasized that the commitments to supply these machines within the framework of the state defense order are being fulfilled in full and on time.
The exact number of aircraft delivered in this batch was not specified. However, this delivery is part of a contract signed in 2020 for the production of 24 Su-34Ms. These deliveries are essential for compensating for the war losses suffered by Russian aviation during the Russia-Ukraine War.
Since the start of the war in February 2022, Su-34s of the Russian Aerospace Forces have been involved in attacking and bombing Ukrainian units and positions. Various reports indicate that the Russian Aerospace Forces have lost a total of 15 Sukhoi Su-34s, including the latest variant called Su-34M, by the end of 2022.
In addition to the aircraft delivery, Rostec has also been engaged in other defense industry collaborations. There have been recent invitations from Russia to Turkey for cooperation in the field of space, and there is ongoing military support from North Korea to Russia.
