Russia Willing to Discuss Ukraine Based on Istanbul Agreements
Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has expressed his willingness to negotiate with Ukraine, as long as it is based on the agreements reached in Istanbul in 2022. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Putin stated that Russia has never refused to engage in negotiations with Ukraine, but emphasized the importance of sticking to the agreed upon documents.
During the forum, Putin mentioned that almost all parameters of a potential peace agreement had been outlined with representatives from the Ukrainian government in Kiev. However, he attributed the breakdown of negotiations to the intervention of Britain in the process, leading to a change in direction by the Ukrainian authorities.
When asked about potential mediators for future negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, Putin mentioned countries like China, Brazil, and India as being sincerely interested in resolving the conflict. He highlighted that he is in constant communication with leaders from these countries, who are eager to assist in navigating the complexities of the negotiation process.
As tensions persist between Russia and Ukraine, Putin’s comments indicate a willingness to engage in dialogue and seek diplomatic solutions with the help of international partners.
