An OVD-Info lawyer has discovered activist Lev Skoryakin, a member of the Left Bloc and an anarchist, in Moscow’s Butyrka pre-trial detention center 2 after being abducted and secretly deported from Kyrgyzstan, according to a report by the “Support for Political Prisoners. Memorial” project.

Earlier, it was reported by activists that Lev Skoryakin was kidnapped from a shelter in Bishkek on the night of October 17, allegedly by intelligence officers.

According to the Memorial project, the following day, the activist was flown from Bishkek to Moscow Domodedovo Airport and subsequently held for two weeks in pre-trial detention center 2 without any legal status, during which he was subjected to torture.

Upon a lawyer’s inquiry, the staff at the pre-trial detention center 2 claimed that he was not present in the facility.

Human rights activists explain that it is highly likely Lev Skoryakin was coerced into stating that he decided to return to Russia on his own free will, as it was legally impossible to extradite him to the Russian Federation due to the Kyrgyz Republic prosecutor’s office’s refusal to extradite him and his status as an asylum seeker.

Lev Skoryakin has been recognized by Memorial as a political prisoner.
