Russian Carrier Initiates Goods Delivery from Turkmenistan to Russia via North-South ITC

PEC Launches Groupage Cargo Delivery Between Turkmenistan and Russia
The multi-service logistics operator PEC has announced the launch of groupage cargo delivery between Turkmenistan and Russia along the eastern branch of the North-South ITC. According to logistics.ru, regular flights will depart once every two weeks, with plans to increase their frequency next year.
PEC is the first company in Russia to transport consolidated cargo for residents and businesses of both countries. The company estimates that Turkmenistan’s transition to international transport documents in electronic form and the launch of regular ferry service between Astrakhan and Turkmenbashi will expedite and simplify delivery on the route.
Anton Buyanov, head of PEC: GLOBAL, stated, “PEC has launched a comprehensive service in the republic, which includes not only transportation to the final recipient but also assistance in preparing accompanying documents, as well as warehouse logistics.”
In order to process and consolidate cargo, PEC opened a partner branch in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, strategically located near the international airport and the E60 highway, which connects Turkmenistan with Kazakhstan and Russia.
Igor Babushkin, governor of the Astrakhan region, confirmed that the region has agreed to resume ferry service with Turkmenistan. The launch of regular carriage by sea will not only speed up delivery between Russia and Turkmenistan but also transit from other countries in Central Asia and the Middle East along the eastern branch of the North-South ITC.
Trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan has been on the rise, with an increase of 45% reported in the first quarter of 2023, reaching $865 million last year. President Vladimir Putin has announced plans for Russia to increase the export of oil and gas equipment and mechanical products to Turkmenistan, while Turkmenistan plans to increase the supply of textiles and food to Russia.
Due to growing demand for delivery from Turkmenistan, PEC plans to open new sites in the region for processing and consolidating shipments, as well as launch regular transportation between Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan via the North-South ITC. This move will integrate Turkmenistan into a single transit route, extending from Russia to the countries of Central and Southeast Asia.
The new Silk Road will create significant opportunities for trade and transportation between the involved countries, and PEC aims to play a pivotal role in facilitating and streamlining cargo delivery across the region.
