VakıfBank Adds Russian Spiker Marina Markova to Their Roster
As the new season squad planning continues, VakıfBank has made a significant transfer by bringing in Russian spiker Marina Markova. Markova, who is currently playing for the Indonesian team Jakarta Elektrik PLN, is set to join VakıfBank in August.
Who is Marina Markova?
Marina Markova, born on January 27, 2001, in Russia, has had a successful career so far. She played for Leningradka Saint Petersburg infrastructure from 2016 to 2019 before moving on to Syracuse University from 2019 to 2022. In the 2022-2023 season, Markova played for the University of Florida.
During the 2023-2024 season, Marina Markova joined Muratpaşa Municipality, a team in the Sultans League, where she impressed with her performance, scoring a total of 411 points in just half a season. Her outstanding play caught the attention of Igor Gorgonzola Novara, who signed her during the league break. Markova went on to win the CEV Challenge Cup championship with the team and played in the semi-finals of the Italian League.
