Russian Suspects in Failed Assassination of Komil Allamjonov Confirmed by Uzbekistan

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Uzbekistan has revealed that two Russian citizens, Bislan Rasaev and Shamil Temirhanov, have been charged with several offenses including illegal entry and exit from Uzbekistan, failure to report a crime, and unlawful handling of firearms. These charges are in connection with the criminal case involving the attempted assassination of Komil Allamjonov.
The two individuals, who are currently on the wanted list, have been charged in absentia under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. Arrest warrants have been issued as a preventive measure and they have been declared as wanted individuals by the authorities.
Reports have indicated that Rasaev and Temirhanov, purportedly from Chechnya, were hired to assassinate Komil Allamjonov and Dmitry Li, both prominent figures in Uzbekistan. They were allegedly promised a substantial reward of $1.5 million by the mastermind behind the plan for the two murders.
The assassination attempt on Komil Allamjonov took place near his residence in Qibray on October 26, where shots were fired at the car he was traveling in. Fortunately, Allamjonov remained unharmed in the incident.
In a previous statement, the Prosecutor General’s Office mentioned that seven individuals had been detained in connection with the crime, with only one suspect, Javlon Yusupov, being named. Yusupov was extradited from South Korea, while another suspect was arrested in Kazakhstan.
Following these developments, several high-ranking officials within the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs were dismissed from their positions in November. Sources suggest that these dismissals were related to the ongoing investigation into the attempted assassination of Allamjonov.
