Russian Teachers Reveal Gift Wishes from Students
Teachers Prefer Emotional Gifts, Survey Finds
An extensive survey conducted by the VK Community Department and the NAFI All-Russian Analytical Center revealed that the majority of teachers in Russia value emotional gifts over material ones. The survey, which involved 500 school teachers aged 24 to 65, highlighted the preferences of educators when it comes to gifts from students.
According to the survey results, more than 80% of teachers considered gifts such as group photos with students, video greetings, postcards with personal wishes, creative class performances, handmade crafts, and class trips to be the most desirable. Additionally, 72% of teachers expressed a preference for receiving flowers.
When it came to material gifts, teachers favored items such as books, stationery, assistance with classroom improvements, tickets to cultural events, and coffee and tea. However, the sentiment invested in a gift was deemed more important by 73% of respondents, with 69% stating that the most valuable gifts cannot be bought in a store.
The survey also revealed that female teachers were more receptive to receiving gifts from students, with 47% viewing them positively compared to only 26% of male teachers. Additionally, 35% of teachers continue to receive gifts and expressions of appreciation from former students, emphasizing the strong bonds between educators and their pupils.
Despite restrictions outlined in Russian law limiting the value of gifts given to educational organization employees, the survey showed that teachers value the thought and sentiment behind the gifts more than their monetary value. Maintaining contact with graduates, whether through social media or in-person meetings, was also highlighted as important by the surveyed teachers.
Overall, the survey findings shed light on the preferences and attitudes of teachers towards gifts from students, emphasizing the importance of emotional connection and appreciation in showing gratitude to educators.
