Sadyr Japarov: Fighting Corruption is a Collective Duty
President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan delivered a speech at the third People’s Kurultai today, highlighting the importance of the ongoing fight against corruption in the country. He described corruption as a disease that hinders development and weakens the state from within.
Japarov emphasized the need for a relentless effort to combat corruption, with the active participation of every citizen being crucial to its success. He urged the people of Kyrgyzstan to take responsibility in eradicating corruption, stating that it is a collective duty.
The president noted a positive trend in the level of support for anti-corruption initiatives among the population. Citing data from the World Bank, he mentioned that citizen support for fighting corruption has increased significantly in recent years, demonstrating a growing awareness and commitment to the cause.
On an international level, Japarov shared the country’s progress in the Global Peace Index, with Kyrgyz Republic moving up in the rankings to 77th place in 2024. He attributed this improvement to the growing level of security within the country.
