Sadyr Japarov to attend SCO summit in India this July

Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeenbek Kulubaev, recently met with his Indian counterpart, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to discuss the agenda of cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, the ministers paid special attention to the preparations for the upcoming visit of Kyrgyz Republic President Sadyr Japarov to India. President Japarov is expected to participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) on July 3-4, 2023, in New Delhi. The ministers discussed the potential for the visit to enhance cooperation between the two nations.

Minister Kulubaev outlined several areas of bilateral cooperation, including in the fields of pharmaceuticals, agriculture, medical tourism, and training of Indian students in Kyrgyzstan. He also stressed the importance of developing new areas of cooperation, such as interbank cooperation, implementation of grant projects, a credit line, and opening full-fledged representative offices of Indian hospitals in Kyrgyzstan.

The parties also discussed regional security issues and highlighted the need for close interaction and information exchange to counter regional threats and challenges. The meeting between the two foreign ministers is expected to foster deeper cooperation and a stronger relationship between Kyrgyzstan and India.
