The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has issued a warning to Kyrgyzstanis regarding the criminal consequences of participating in armed conflicts in other countries or undergoing terrorist training. In light of the ongoing Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the SCNS has observed the rapid spread of provocative posts, publications, and comments on social media platforms and among internet users, urging individuals to engage in jihad in Palestine.
The state committee emphasizes that individuals displaying signs of intent to participate in or be sent to conflict zones, as well as those inciting others to do so, will face legal prosecution. According to the SCNS, these actions fall under Article 256 and Article 416 of the Criminal Code, which carry imprisonment terms ranging from five to ten years, along with the confiscation of property.
On October 7, an early morning rocket attack by Hamas from the Gaza Strip targeted the southern region of the country. The conflict has resulted in a significant number of casualties, with approximately 9,000 people affected, predominantly Palestinian women and children.
It is crucial for Kyrgyzstanis to be aware of the legal consequences associated with participating in armed conflicts abroad or undergoing terrorist training. The SCNS’s warning serves as a reminder of the government’s commitment to maintaining peace and security within the country and discouraging any involvement in international conflicts.
