Second Hearing in the Sıla Baby Case Today
The second hearing of the case involving the sexual abuse and violence against 2-year-old Sıla Yeniçeri is set to begin at 10:30 at Tekirdag 2 High Criminal Court. Police teams from the Tekirdag Provincial Police Department have implemented extensive security measures around the courthouse, while lawyers and representatives from non-governmental organizations have gathered at the Tekirdag Courthouse in the early hours of the morning.
In this case, the mother of the victim, Balance Janissary, is facing charges of “negligent intentional killing” for which a sentence of 67 years is being requested. Additionally, the defendants Neighboring Kani A. is facing 28 years and 6 months, and Sanli Ö. is facing 1 year and 6 months for “not reporting the crime”. The total of 66 years for the accused is involved in the crime.
During the closed session hearing, it is expected that statements from the defendants will begin to be taken. The pain and suffering of this tragic case have not abated for the past 2 years. It is as if the whole community is still trying to heal from the trauma caused by this horrific event.
