Elderly Individuals in Nicosia Participate in Group Exercises in Nature
In a heartwarming collaboration between the Turkish Cypriot Physiotherapists Association and the Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB), individuals over the age of 65 gathered in Kızılbaş Park to engage in group exercises surrounded by the beauty of nature.
The municipality announced that as part of the “Our Good Luck” initiative, group exercises with physiotherapists were organized in Central Nicosia by LTB in partnership with the Turkish Cypriot Physiotherapists Association. This special event took place in Kızılbaş Park in celebration of Elderly Week.
President of LTB, Mehmet Harmancı, was present at the event, engaging in conversations with the members and participating in the exercises and cultural-physical movements alongside them.
In addition to the exercises focused on promoting health, mental well-being, and socialization, the “Our Good Luck” program, in collaboration with the KT Physiotherapists Association, offers a range of services including hair care, blood pressure and sugar measurements, blood tests, hospital transportation, medication supply, psychological support, and participation in various social and cultural activities such as theater, concerts, and trips.
Group exercises led by physiotherapists, a common practice in European countries, allow individuals to maintain a healthy lifestyle by engaging in age-appropriate physical movements. Participants not only benefit from the physical aspects of the exercises but also find relaxation and socialization opportunities as they interact with friends and new acquaintances in the group setting.
The event in Kızılbaş Park served as a reminder of the importance of staying active, both physically and socially, especially for senior citizens, emphasizing the value of community engagement and support for the elderly.
