Servicemen in Osh Region Face Criminal Charges

Bishkek, September 14, 2024 – The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has recently opened a criminal case against servicemen in the Osh region for their involvement in facilitating the illegal entry of a citizen of Uzbekistan into the country. The case materials have been transferred to the military prosecutor’s office of Osh garrison, according to a report from the SCNS press center.

The incident took place on September 2 when a citizen of Uzbekistan was detained in Osh region after illegally entering Kyrgyzstan on August 30. It was found that the individual had paid $300 and handed over his passport to a serviceman at the Osh-Airport checkpoint, who then contacted another serviceman at a road checkpoint. The second serviceman, for a financial reward, endorsed the entry stamp in the passport on September 2 and entered false information into the Unified System for Recording External Migration.

As a result, the citizen of Uzbekistan was detained for illegal border crossing and has been placed in a pretrial detention center. The SCNS is taking the matter seriously and is working with the military prosecutor’s office to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining border security and preventing illegal activities that could potentially harm the country’s security and integrity. The SCNS continues to work diligently to uphold the rule of law and protect the nation’s borders.
