Seventh Channel’s Director Chosen as Chairman of Union of Journalists
The 10th Congress of the Union of Journalists of Kyrgyzstan recently took place in Bishkek, where a new chairman was elected. Ilyazbek Baltashev, the General Director of the Seventh Channel Television and Radio Company, was chosen to lead the professional association of media workers.
Previously, Abdykadyr Sultanbaev had held the position of chairman since 1991. The change in leadership marks a new chapter for the organization.
Ilyazbek Baltashev, who served as the Deputy Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism in 2020, was responsible for information policy before being dismissed from his post in 2021. His experience in the field will bring valuable insights to his new role as chairman of the Union of Journalists.
The Congress was a gathering of industry professionals who came together to discuss the future of journalism in Kyrgyzstan. With Baltashev at the helm, the union looks forward to addressing the challenges and opportunities facing media workers in the country.
