Sevilla FC Parts Ways with Manager Javier Garcia Pimienta
Sevilla FC has made the decision to terminate their contract with manager Javier Garcia Pimienta following a string of disappointing results in LaLiga. The club announced the news just two days after a 1-0 loss to Valencia, which marked their fourth consecutive defeat in the league.
Currently sitting in 13th place in La Liga, Sevilla has only managed to accumulate 36 points from 31 games, falling well short of expectations for a club of their stature. With their chances of qualifying for European competitions dwindling and a mere seven-point cushion above the relegation zone, the board felt it was necessary to make a change.
In a statement released by the club, Sevilla expressed their gratitude towards Garcia Pimienta for his efforts during his tenure. The 50-year-old coach, who signed a two-year deal with the club in July last year, took over from Quique Sanchez Flores and managed to lead Las Palmas to promotion in the 2022-23 season, followed by securing their LaLiga survival in the subsequent campaign.
Sevilla FC is scheduled to face off against Deportivo Alaves in their next LaLiga fixture on April 20. As the search for a new manager begins, the club will be looking to turn their fortunes around and finish the season on a positive note.
