Shanghai has launched a new initiative offering passengers on international transit flights with layovers longer than eight hours a free half-day city tour. The program, organized by travel platform Trip.com Group (Ctrip), aims to attract more tourists to the bustling city of Shanghai.
Passengers participating in the program will receive free transportation, guides, Internet services, and foreign currency exchange services. Additionally, they will have access to special discounts, such as buy one get one free deals on souvenir products and global sales on air tickets.
Ctrip’s Overseas Marketing Director, Zhang Chengjie, expressed the company’s excitement about the initiative and its potential to enhance the travel experience for transit passengers in Shanghai.
To join the program, passengers must choose a suitable route based on their layover time at Shanghai Pudong International Airport. The tours start and end at the airport and typically last no more than six hours.
Recommended routes include visitations to popular landmarks like Yuyuan Garden, the Embankment, Wukang Road, and the Huangpu River Cruise.
