President Mirziyoyev Congratulates Friedrich Merz on His Election as German Chancellor
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Friedrich Merz following his election as the Federal Chancellor of Germany. In a message to Merz, President Mirziyoyev expressed his best wishes for success in this significant role.
In his correspondence, the Uzbek leader underscored the importance Uzbekistan places on enhancing its multifaceted and long-term partnership with Germany, which he regards as a reliable and traditional ally within the European Union. This sentiment reflects Uzbekistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation across various sectors.
Mirziyoyev voiced his confidence that under Chancellor Merz’s guidance, the new German government would reinforce the country’s stature as a prominent democratic and economically advanced nation on the global stage. He stated, “It is my firm belief that, through our joint efforts, we will be able to give fresh momentum to our partnership in priority areas such as the green economy, investment, infrastructure, technology, education, healthcare, the environment, and other fields.”
Friedrich Merz was elected as Germany’s new chancellor by the Bundestag, securing 325 votes in the second round of voting, thus achieving the necessary absolute majority of 316 votes. Notably, 289 lawmakers opposed his appointment. Merz’s election marks him as the 10th Federal Chancellor in the history of Germany.
As Germany embarks on a new chapter under Merz’s leadership, collaborative efforts between Uzbekistan and Germany are anticipated to flourish, benefiting both nations in various vital domains.
