Brolin announced that director and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, known for his work on the Mission: Impossible series, is no longer involved in the project. Additionally, the involvement of “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan is also uncertain.
Brolin, who is currently busy promoting his Western sci-fi series “Outer Range,” disclosed the latest updates on the third “Sicario” film during an interview with the Bingeworthy TV podcast. Regarding the directorial and screenwriting changes, Brolin explained, “Chris [McQuarrie] has been in business for a while but not right now and [Taylor] I don’t know Sheridan either. I know him very well, but I don’t know if he is in this project or not.” Denis Villeneuve, who directed the first “Sicario” film, had previously announced that he would not be involved in the third installment.
The sequel to “Sicario,” titled “Sicario: Day of the Soldado,” was directed by Stefano Sollima.
