Uzbekistan and Russia Strengthen Trade Relations with Simplified Customs Corridor
Cargo turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia has seen a significant increase of 38% year-on-year in the first nine months of this year, according to the press service of the RF Federal Customs Service. To further promote and develop mutual trade, the head of the customs committee of Uzbekistan, Akmalkhodja Mavlonov, recently held discussions with his Russian counterpart, Ruslan Davydov.
During their meeting on October 31, both parties agreed on the establishment of a simplified customs corridor, which aims to streamline and expedite the movement of goods between the two countries. This development will facilitate smoother cross-border trade and promote economic cooperation.
Additionally, Uzbekistan and Russia have also signed a document on the exchange of customs information. This agreement will enhance the efficiency of information sharing regarding changes in the national registers of authorized economic operators in both countries. By improving communication and cooperation in this area, businesses on both sides will be able to access accurate and up-to-date information, which will further facilitate trade.
Highlighting the importance of strengthening trade relations with Uzbekistan, the head of Russian customs, Ruslan Davydov, emphasized the necessity of expediting projects to streamline the movement of goods under international agreements. He specifically mentioned a pilot project for a simplified customs corridor as one of the key initiatives to be prioritized.
The establishment of a simplified customs corridor and mutual recognition of authorized economic operators between Uzbekistan and Russia marks an important step towards enhancing bilateral trade. As both countries continue to work together, it is expected that trade relations will further flourish, benefiting businesses and economies on both sides.
