Silence After Cable Car Accident: Entrances Closed, Investigations Ongoing – Latest News from Turkey
One person has tragically lost their life and seven others have sustained injuries following a cable car accident at the Tünektepe Teleferik and Social Facilities in Antalya on April 12th at 17:28.
Rescue teams worked tirelessly for approximately 23 hours to safely evacuate 174 individuals who were trapped in the cable car cabins.
Out of the 14 individuals who were deemed to be at fault for the accident and subsequently taken to court yesterday, five have been arrested. The remaining nine have been released, with eight of them being placed under judicial supervision.
The harrowing moment when the cable car collided with a pole in Antalya has left a community in mourning and raised concerns about the safety and oversight of such facilities. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident to determine the root cause of the accident and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
