Sinan Ateş Indicted and Charges Accepted
The indictment for the murder of former Ülkü Ocakları President and Hacettepe University Faculty Member Sinan Ateş has been sent to the court, as reported by CNN TÜRK. The 145-page indictment, prepared against 22 suspects, has also caught the attention of MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli.
During his party’s group meeting, Bahçeli expressed his concern over the slander MHP and Ülkü Ocakları have faced in connection with Ateş’s murder. He stated, “As MHP, our expectation is this; The said indictment should be accepted by the relevant court and the trial process should be started immediately. Whoever has any documents and information must submit them to the court.”
Bahçeli emphasized that Turkey is a state of law and urged all parties, from CHP to ‘IP’, to provide any information they have regarding the case to the judiciary. He reiterated the importance of the legal process being carried out in accordance with the law.
The murder investigation of Sinan Ateş was also discussed by CHP Chairman Özgür Özel, who met with Ateş’s wife Ayşe Ateş. Özel stated that they will continue to closely follow the case until justice is served.
The indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office included 22 suspects, with aggravated life imprisonment requested for three of them for the crime of “premeditated murder” against Ateş. The case is now in the hands of the 32nd High Criminal Court.
The acceptance of the indictment marks a significant step forward in seeking justice for the tragic murder of Sinan Ateş. All parties involved are urged to cooperate fully with the legal process to ensure that the truth comes to light and justice is served.
