Sivasspor endures horrendous performance – Breaking News

Sivasspor Finishes the Season in 14th Place
Under the management of coach Rıza Çalımbay, Sivasspor had an up and down season in the Turkish Super League, finishing in 14th place with 41 points. Sivas team secured their spot in the league for next season after defeating Arabam.com Konyaspor 1-0 in the 36th week.
Demir Grup Sivasspor’s performance this season was not as good as their previous years, especially after receiving the right to participate in European cups for the past three years. The team finished in 7th place in the 2017-18 season, their first year back in the Super League, and then finished 12th, 4th, and 5th in the following years. However, this season saw their worst performance out of the last four years.
While their performance in the league was lackluster, Sivasspor managed to reach the round of 16 in the UEFA European Conference League, where they were eliminated by the Italian representative Fiorentina.
In the Ziraat Turkish Cup, Sivasspor had a stronger start, winning in the early rounds against Esenler Erokspor and Teco Karacabey Belediyespor. When Gaziantep FK withdrew, Sivasspor advanced straight to the semi-finals to match with Fenerbahçe. Unfortunately, they were eliminated after losing 3-0 in the rematch.
Despite their less than impressive season, Sivasspor had players who stood out. Greek defender Dimitrios Goutas played for a total of 2,685 minutes in 31 games, making him the most stable player on the team. Max Gradel, an Ivory Coast football player, was the top scorer with 7 goals. Erdoğan Yeşilyurt received 1 red and 4 yellow cards, Uğur Çiftçi received 1 red and 3 yellow cards, and Mustapha Yatabare received 1 red and 3 yellow cards, with the three being the most combative players.
Sivasspor will need to regroup and strategize for a better season next year if they hope to continue their European cup streak and improve their standing in the Turkish Super League.
