Six Countries, including Kyrgyzstan, Condemn Nazi Glorification

At the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, a joint statement was issued by Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan condemning attempts to glorify Nazis on the eve of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. This conflict remains the deadliest in human history, and the nations have come together to denounce any glorification of the perpetrators of these atrocities.
The statement, read by Russian delegation representative Evgeny Ustinov, emphasized that any attempts to glorify Nazis and their accomplices are completely unacceptable. The International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg declared the actions of the main Nazi war criminals as criminal, confirming the expulsion and extermination of civilians by the Nazis and their collaborators. These heinous crimes are viewed as genocide against the peoples of the Soviet Union.
Furthermore, the countries expressed deep concern over any efforts to attribute equal responsibility for starting World War II to both the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany. They labeled such claims as “immoral and blasphemous,” particularly in light of the millions of lives lost in the fight against Nazism.
The joint statement highlights the importance of preserving the truth about the Victory over Nazism and preventing the resurgence of ideologies promoting hatred, discrimination based on ethnicity, race, or religion, and other inhumane acts. The nations reaffirm their commitment to honoring the memory of those who sacrificed their lives to defeat Nazism and ensuring that the horrors of the past are never forgotten.
This united front against the glorification of Nazis underscores the shared values of peace, tolerance, and respect for human rights that these Central Asian and Eastern European countries hold dear.
