Six Trolleybuses Transported from Bishkek to Naryn
Six trolleybuses from Bishkek delivered to Naryn for public transport development
In a move to enhance the public transport system in Naryn, six trolleybuses were recently delivered from Bishkek. The press service of the regional center announced this development, highlighting that the trolleybuses were transferred as part of a cooperation agreement between the City Halls of the two cities. Efforts are now underway to put these trolleybuses into operation in Naryn.
The municipality of Naryn expressed their gratitude to Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov and Bishkek’s City Hall for their significant contribution to the improvement of public transportation in the city.
The decision to transfer trolleybuses from Bishkek to Naryn comes after Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliev previously announced plans to completely phase out trolleybuses from the capital. He explained that electric buses and other forms of public transport offer more flexibility as their routes can be adjusted to tackle traffic congestion issues, unlike trolleybuses.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the proposal to transfer 100 trolleybuses from Bishkek to Osh was approved by Bishkek City Council deputies on August 29. This decision led to the commencement of dismantling the trolleybus contact network in Bishkek, a move that raised concerns among some city residents. The first batch of trolleybuses has already been successfully transported to the southern capital of Osh.
Overall, these initiatives mark significant steps towards modernizing public transport systems in various cities across Kyrgyzstan, ultimately aiming to provide more efficient and sustainable modes of transportation for residents.
