Six Uzbek Citizens Die from Counterfeit Alcohol in Istanbul
In Istanbul, a total of 38 individuals have suffered from alcohol poisoning in just one day, with 11 of them tragically losing their lives as a result. Shockingly, among those hospitalized, 26 were foreign nationals. The alarming spike in alcohol-related incidents has prompted a thorough investigation by the local authorities.
Two Turkmen nationals have been arrested on suspicion of producing and distributing counterfeit alcoholic beverages in Istanbul. These individuals are believed to be connected to the recent surge in alcohol poisoning cases in the city. A criminal case has been initiated against them as the police work to uncover the full extent of their operations.
Tragically, the consumption of counterfeit alcohol has had deadly consequences, with six Uzbek citizens having lost their lives due to ingesting the harmful substances. This includes five men and one woman who fell victim to the dangerous counterfeit products.
This is not the first incident of its kind, as previously, reports emerged of 17 deaths in the Kimyogarlar neighborhood of Samarkand city in Uzbekistan linked to homemade alcohol consumption. The General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan has confirmed the death of five individuals based on initial findings, shedding light on the grave dangers associated with counterfeit alcohol.
As authorities continue to investigate these cases and crack down on the production and distribution of counterfeit alcohol, it serves as a stark reminder of the perils of consuming illicit substances.
