Smartwings Expands Flight Offerings in Hungary with New Routes from Budapest and Debrecen

Smartwings Hungary, a subsidiary of the Czech Smartwings Group, is expanding its offerings for the upcoming summer season in 2025. According to a report by Airportal.hu, the airline will be introducing new routes from Budapest and Debrecen in Hungary.

From Budapest, Smartwings Hungary will operate flights to Almería in Spain and Bodrum in Turkey. The route to Almería will have one flight per week from the end of May to the beginning of October, with an increase to two flights a week during the high season from June to September.

Additionally, the airline will offer one flight per week from Budapest to Bodrum from June to September.

From Debrecen, Smartwings Hungary will launch routes to Barcelona in Spain and Tirana in Albania. Flights to Barcelona will operate once a week on Thursdays, while flights to Tirana will run on Mondays.

Last year, Debrecen Airport experienced a decrease in traffic after Wizz Air relocated its base aircraft to Budapest. However, the airport has been working on attracting new airlines, and Smartwings Hungary’s new routes are a positive development.

Overall, these new routes will provide more travel options for passengers and boost connectivity between Hungary and popular destinations in Europe. With the addition of these routes, Smartwings Hungary continues to strengthen its presence in the Hungarian market.
