Smoke Engulfs MIA Building in Tashkent

Thick smoke rose in the underground tunnel in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs building in Tashkent. The SUE “Toshkent Metropoliteni” has reported that the fire was not related to the metro system.

According to the report, all instruments at the “Kosmonavtlar” station are operating normally. The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has stated that the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit in the underground tunnel.

Fortunately, there were no casualties as a result of the incident. Nine fire and rescue teams, along with the Minister of Emergency Situations, arrived at the scene of the incident to control the situation.

Prior to this incident, a technical malfunction had occurred in the electrical section of rolling stock car No. 40, which entered the “Kosmonavtlar” metro station. This resulted in smoke under the train but did not cause any harm to passengers or staff.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the electrical short circuit and will take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future. The metro system is expected to resume normal operation soon.
