Bishkek – During the capsule laying ceremony for the construction of Asman city, President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan revealed that public opinion is divided regarding the development project.
While there were those who criticized the plan to build a modern city on the shores of Issyk-Kul lake, there were also individuals who supported and contributed towards the realization of this ambitious project. Some segments of society expressed doubts about the government’s ability to build a smart city, citing the substantial funds that would be required and questioning the source of financing. These skeptics believed that the authorities were merely engrossed in empty hopes and prematurely jumped to conclusions, disregarding the prevailing poverty challenges that needed to be addressed.
President Japarov emphasized that not a single penny from the country’s budget was allocated for the initial stages of Asman city’s construction. He highlighted that the involvement of investors in such large-scale projects is driven by their own vested interest.
The Asman city project, situated on the breathtaking shores of Issyk-Kul lake, holds immense potential for economic growth and job creation. However, it is crucial to address the concerns of critics and ensure transparency in the use of funds to gain the support of a wider section of society.
Asman city aims to be a smart city and is expected to feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, technology-enabled services, and sustainable development. It is envisioned as a hub for innovation, tourism, and economic activities.
With the divided opinions on this undertaking, it remains to be seen how the project will progress and whether it will successfully fulfill aspirations for a brighter future for Kyrgyzstan.
