Soldiers Demonstrate Outstanding Performance with Gidrán Armored Vehicles in Global Exercise

The Klapka György 1st Armored Brigade of the Hungarian Defense Forces recently participated in an international exercise, showcasing their skills and capabilities with the Gidrán armored vehicles. The brigade, which was offered to the European Union Battlegroup, made an impressive display during the exercise, as announced in a Facebook post.

Lieutenant Mihály Soós, commander of the brigade, highlighted the performance of the 1st Rifle Battalion personnel during the exercise. They engaged in a unique company-level firing drilling, executing a complex offensive operation with precision.

During the exercise, the soldiers utilized the Gidrán armored vehicles to provide supporting fire and conducted an aerial bombardment using Carl Gustaf anti-tank missiles. The platoons of infantry fighters then carried out a clearing operation with live ammunition, followed by creating a passage at the entry point through explosive demolition. Additionally, the sniper squadron targeted important objectives and assisted in drone targeting.

The Gidrán armored vehicles, manufactured by Turkish Nurol Makina and reinforced with Hungarian developments, proved to be invaluable assets during the exercise. These 4×4 multipurpose armored vehicles are equipped with a remote-controlled gun turret, night vision camera, and heavy machine gun, ensuring survivability with blast-resistant systems and special armor. With each Gidrán weighing 14 tons and powered by an 8,900 cc engine, they can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h and travel 700 kilometers on a single fill-up.

As part of the Defense and Military Development Program, the Hungarian army is set to receive 300 Gidrán armored vehicles, further enhancing their capabilities on the battlefield.

The soldiers’ exceptional performance with the Gidrán armored vehicles in the international exercise demonstrates the Hungarian Defense Forces’ commitment to excellence and readiness for any challenges they may face. The successful participation in such exercises strengthens their skills and ensures they are prepared for future missions.

The impressive capabilities of the Gidrán armored vehicles and the dedication of the Hungarian soldiers were evident during the exercise, showcasing the strength and professionalism of the Klapka György 1st Armored Brigade.
