South Africa to provide new evidence in genocide case against Israel
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has made a strong statement on the 1st anniversary of Israel’s Gaza attacks, announcing plans to submit a petition to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the genocide case filed against Israel. The petition, which is based on detailed evidence, aims to hold Israel accountable for the crime of genocide in Palestine. President Ramaphosa called on Israel to immediately implement the interim orders issued by the court earlier this year.
The statement also expressed deep concern over the escalating tension in the Middle East, emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire to end the suffering of the people of Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need. Israel’s attacks on Lebanon were also condemned, with a focus on the disproportionate impact on civilians.
President Ramaphosa urged the international community to take action to stop the violence against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. He called on South Africans to continue advocating for justice and peace, while rejecting all forms of racism, intolerance, and prejudice.
