Foreign Organized Crime Group Involved in Kidnapping and Extortion Arrested in Kyrgyzstan
Bishkek – 17:48, 27 September 2024 – The State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) has successfully put an end to the activities of a group of foreign citizens engaged in kidnapping and extortion. According to the report from the SCNS press center, members of an organized crime group from Southeast Asia have been apprehended as part of the investigation under the Article “Kidnapping of a person by a group of people.”
The arrests were made after the criminals kidnapped a foreign citizen in Bishkek on September 25 and demanded a large sum of money from him under the threat of violence. The SCNS has confirmed that the detainees are currently in custody, and investigative procedures are still ongoing.
This swift action by the authorities highlights the commitment of Kyrgyzstan in combating organized crime and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens and residents. The SCNS continues to work diligently to identify and neutralize any threats posed by criminal networks operating within the country.
